Hear Ye, Hear Ye

February 17, 2018

That is quite possibly the dumbest blog post title I've ever come up with.

Anyway ... I used to have all my mixes stored on a website that unfortunate...

I'm All About That Bass, 'Bout That Bass (But Please ... No Treble)

September 29, 2014

I love that song and have not been able to get it out of my head for the last two months. It's constantly in there, shuffling around other thoughts like "Turn left now" and "Did you clean the litter box this morning?"

It's got that girl-group doo-wop sound that Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" had ... but I could never play "Rehab" at a wedding because who knows if Grandma's been to rehab or not and I try to stay away from sticky subjects at weddings. So imagine my giddiness when this song came out.

The cool thing about it is that it appeals to just about everybody at a wedding reception. The retro sound captures the older folks' attention, the "newness" of the song grabs the teen-and-up crowd. It has the same lyrical vibe as "Baby Got Back" but done in a much more tame way.

And man oh man ... it's the catchiest melody I've heard in a while.

I've even known people (ie my son) who hated the song the first time they heard it and soon grew to love it. It is the awesome sauce boss and I can't get enough of it.

I love this version that I've attached as well. Not as much as the original but this one's just as irresistable. I've been playing it during cocktail hours recently and had a lady at a party come running up saying "THAT'S MY JAM! THAT'S MY JAM!" only to get confused after the first few seconds and when reality set in, she said "That's not my jam. But I like it."

Can't get a much better compliment than that!
