Most Popular Wedding DJ Songs List from Billboard
There are SO MANY lists that an engaged couple can study in order to find songs that will rock their wedding reception dance floors (I provide my clients with numerous lists myself). But this is the first list Billboard has produced in a while of the songs that Wedding DJs say "This is what works".
I agree with about 90% of the list but maybe not in the order it's in. I think some songs that are lower on the list do much better than songs higher on the list and vice versa. And because the majority of my parties take place in Alabama, I need to put an "Alabama Spin" on the list ... we here in Alabama take our sweet time getting around to following the trends that other parts of the country tend to jump on as far as the popularity of music. For instance, I don't think I've received more than one request for "I Took A Pill In Ibiza" and "One Dance" this year. These may be dance floor burners at Los Angeles' wedding receptions but I don't foresee them becoming must hears in our area for at least another year if ever.
That said, here's the list. If you want to see the list on the Billboard site which has videos of many of the more recent songs, click here.

I will say that normally when we play songs off this list, the music appeals to young and old AS LONG AS we play it at the proper point of the evening. Putting all these songs on an iPod, hitting shuffle and expecting to get a dance floor going simply will not work. A Professional DJ understands the psychology of entertaining your guests in a way so that he knows not to try playing "Unchained Melody" or "Don't Stop Believin" in the first hour of your reception. He knows WHEN to play these songs to maximize their effect with you and your guests.
So while it's a great list of music, it means nothing without a Professional DJ playing it.
Kinda like a NASCAR race car and a 16 year-old driver. Sure the 16 year-old knows how to drive now. But I wouldn't put him behind the wheel of a race car and expect success!
