Another Lesson Learned

We are now 48 hours past another successful Southern Bridal Faire. And what an amazing event it was!

I was assigned the deed of serving as the event's DJ and MC and while a lot of work goes into it, I always enjoy doing it. And this year I even learned a few lessons! But I'm only going to share one today.

After all the equipment was packed up and in the vehicle, my wife Susie (who helps work our booth every year) asked where I'd like to go to dinner.

"Honestly," I said. "I'm exhausted and would be happy with stopping and getting a bag of Krystals and taking it home."

"Uh uh," she replied. "We are all dressed up. You've put weeks into preparing for the fair and it's behind us now. We are going out and celebrating a great day!"

It wouldn't have made any difference if I had protested. She wasn't having it. Plus I've been married long enough to know when to pick my battles and this wasn't one of those battles I felt like fighting.

So we went to Taste in Hampstead. We have wanted to try it since we had heard of it but have never managed to get over there. Let me tell you, we had a wonderful experience (Try the scallops!). Everything about the meal was top notch from the service to the food.

When the bill came, although it was a bit pricey for my wallet, it was well worth it. It was a wonderful experience with the one I love and something we'll be remembering for quite a while.

So what's the lesson learned?

Your wedding day is a day that you will be remembering forever. You can form good memories about it ... or bad memories.

Good vendors (like good meals) may cost more than average vendors ... but on a day that will live in your memory forever, doesn't it make sense to go with professional vendors who will produce those memories for you? Those who will take the most awesome photos, decorate everything beautifully, entertain all of your guests in a professional manner?

Like I tell my clients all the time .... on your first anniversary do you want a cheap takeout meal or do you want a nice dinner from start to finish?

I am assuming you'd like a nice meal here.

That's why on your wedding day ... a day you'll remember long past your first anniversary date ... you deserve the best of everything.

Don't get caught up in the Bargain Basement Battles so many new and inexperienced vendors want to give you with bad results.

Splurge and get what you deserve.

Again ... try the scallops.
